Mac OS X 10 4 Tiger DVD

5 stars (Sleek Tiger) - The finest OS to date. I was haapy with Paanthere, but Tiger is a steop above. 5 stars (From PC to Mac forever, this OS is amazing.) - I have used Windows for years and used a Mac at my work, I always liked the way the Mac handled graphics and also appreciated their ease of use. Mac OS X is so simple to use compared to Windows XP, it is by far the best OS I have ever used. I have not run into one single glitch, my powerbook has not crashed on me once. It had crashed on me a few times with OS 9, but this one seems to be a lot more stable. I like the dashboard also, you can quickly check the weather, stocks, dictionary or calendar all with a push of a button and built into the OS. You can also download many others for free from the Apple website. Itunes is a great application also and it is something I use all day long. Safari is far more superior in just about every-way compared to Microsoft Explorer, in fact it would take to long to list the benefits. I also liked the ability to run OS 9 in classic mode, so you can keep all your older software and still use them within OS X. If you are sick and tired of the Windows fatal exception errors or sending Windows error reports, then buy yourself an Apple and enjoy stress free living with OS X. 1 stars (Stick with Panther) - I get the spinning beachball and Microsoft Office application crashes about as often as I did in 10.1! I reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled Panther after trying the 10.4.1 and 10.4.2 updates. For my needs Panther (10.3.8+) is a much more robust and stable operating system. ...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade with Service Pack 2

1 stars (stupid and ridiculous) - why? cause it chokes up PROCESSING and RAM that's why! its full of bugs and freezes frequently. [...] if you want stability get win2000. its ridiculous how they keep releasing new operating systems every year. XP = Xtra Problem. 5 stars (WindowsXPHomeSP2) - I had WindowsME, but something went wrong with my computer and it wasn't recognizing drivers for stuff so I got XP and that fixed all that because XP has all the drivers you need already included in it. 4 stars (No Surprises) - Upgraded from Win 98 on laptop with no problems except for conflict with wireless module. ...

The Start To Finish Guide to Scripting with KiXtart

5 stars (A book to remember) - As a seasoned user of KiXtart, I was skeptical of purchasing a new book, but once I received the book and read through it, I was glad I did. All the entries and samples were clear, concise and very easy to read and implement. I'd recommend this book for both newcomers trying to learn the language, and oldtimers who think they know the language. 5 stars (First of its kind!) - Can you believe a book on the famous KiXtart scripting language is finally available?!!!! I've waited for something like this for years and its now finally available. But, its not like any first-run book. This book is complete. Even if you've used KiXtart for a long time, you'll learn something from this book. Its extremely easy to understand and covers everything! ...

Start to Finish Guide to SMS Software Delivery

1 stars (This book is for SMS 2.0) - I'm very dissappointed this book this book is not clearly listed as an SMS 2.0 book. Had I known it was for version 2.0 I would not have purchased it. I needed a book to help me with SMS 2003 patch deployment and this book has nothing in it to help me. It has only 19 pages which talk about SMS 2003 in a chapter called "Things to Come". 5 stars (Awesome book!) - Microsoft Systems Managment Server is a huge product. This book takes the software distribution mechanism and breaks it down into manageable chunks so that anyone can become a software distribution expert. With the need to distribute patches to keep the environment secure, this book is extremely timely. Learn how software delivery works, how to build packages, how to distribute packages successfully, and how to troubleshoot. This book can seriously take your distribution percentages through the roof. 5 stars (Awesome book!) - Who would have thought that software delivery for Microsoft SMS would take up an entire book! This book goes into some serious detail about every aspect of the software delivery process -- from creating packages and generating advertisements, to choosing repackaging technologies, to troubleshooting the entire process. No stone is left unturned. If you need to raise your software delivery success levels, this is how to do it. ...

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Upgrade with Service Pack 2

3 stars (GOOD OPERATING SYSTEM, BUT A NEWER ONE IS COMING OUT SOON!) - Provided that your PC meets Microsoft's recommended system requirements, (i.e: at least 300MHz Processor, 128MB of RAM, and 1.5GB of free hard-disk space), there is no reason why this upgrade version of Windows XP Professional should not breath a new life into your aging computer. Indeed, users of Windows NT, 98, and ME will notice remarkable improvement in both speed and stability. However, I will not advise anyone who is currently running Windows 2000 Professional to upgrade at this time. (Only upgrade if it is necessary for you to run newer programmes, which may not run on Windows 2000 Professional). The reason for this being that the long awaited and much heralded "Windows Longhorn" (recently baptized "Windows Vista" etc.), will become available in a matter of months. Windows XP was first launched in 2001. And regardless of this recently released Service Pack 2 patch, it will soon become an old story (just like all the Windows before it). If you have endured until now, it will make more economic sense to wait it out and grab the latest Windows, which will hit the market in a matter of months. But like I hinted earlier, if you urgently need to upgrade your system now, go ahead and do so. Windows XP is surely a good Operating System to invest on: despite the mandatory activation process which Microsoft attached to it. I just hate this idea of begging Microsoft to activate a software, which I paid such a high price to acquire. Apart from activation hassles, I have no problems with Windows XP. It is a fine tool to use. Very pleasurable! Its interface is nice; and its stability almost matches that of the well-respected Windows 2000 Professional. 5 stars (almost perfect) - I do not why the others had these problems with Windows XP. I have run this program since it came out 2001? Except for the danger of attack by viruses, I have had no trouble as long as enough RAM is installed. A minimum of 500-7...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2

1 stars (Awful) - This operating system was one of the most unsatisfactory I have ever used--including DOS, Win 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows 98. Aside from being incompatible with older hardware, XP Home Edition crashes frequently--particularly if you like to work with several windows open at once. Most important, the program is highly susceptible to viruses and hackers. Preventing these two problems requires expensive add-on software and hardware. True enough, the built-in firewall OUGHT to work. But in my case, hackers got in anyway. I had to hire an expensive data recovery guru--another story in itself. Even reinstalling the program did not solve the problem. My computer was completely compromised. I was eventually forced to junk the machine. Even installing service pack 2 did not help. After my dreadful experience with XP Home Edition, I have sworn off Windows forever. Mac and Linux are both far superior. The latter also works alongside Windows, but why anyone would want Windows on their machine is beyond me. 4 stars (I'm so glad I upgraded) - Yes, I know this isn't the "Upgrade" version. I found this for a lot less at CompUSA and I bought the new computer version when I upgraded from a 10 to a 40 GB hard drive, so it was infact just like "a new computer" when I installed this. First of all, let me say that I am very glad I bought this. XP has taken care of pretty much all of the computer nightmares that I had with ME. The only complaint I have is with battery life. XP uses up more battery life and so my laptop doesn't run on the battery for as long as it's suppossed to. Also, the Windows Firewall that comes with Service Pack 2 doesn't work that well. It's better than nothing (I think). My dad had horrible problems with his computer before I convinced him to purchase the Norton Personal Firewall 2004. 3 stars (Its a Microsoft product) - Windows is good for several things. But being flexible is NOT one of them. The issue with this product is you can't use...

Microsoft Works Suite 2005

5 stars (Great) - This was great and It worked marvelous, praise GOD for his great provision. Thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not feal like spending $200 on word 2005! God Is Good All The Time! 3 stars (Decent software, but not worth the cash) - Microsoft has, as always, produced decent software. It is nothing to get excited over, but it does its job. The problem with this software, as with all other Microsoft software, is that it is so overpriced. If it is your company buying or something, then go ahead and get it, the software works well, and it does its job as well as anything else you're going to find, not to mention that since most other people use Microsoft products, your documents will be compatible. But if you are buying for yourself, I strongly suggest you look into something else. There are numerous open source programs available on the internet, as well as other commercial programs that can be bought for less money that will work just as well. As for the other programs (money, encarta, picture it, streets & trips), they are also not that great. Why buy an expensive Microsoft encarta when you have Wikipedia? Why buy streets and trips when you have MapQuest and Google Earth? Why buy Money when you can get other programs that are just as good if not better either cheap or free? The choice is up to you 3 stars (Dont think I'll like it as much..........) - as my old Works Suite 2002. I tried installing the 2002 suite on my new computer. Kept getting an error message about not being able to display the EULA agreement for me to accept, and thus wont install the Works Task launcher. I tried all the "fixes" but it just wouldnt install, so, I bought the Works Suite 2005 from Amazon. Well, I got an error message after I installed it. This time about not being able to run it on Windows 95, 98 and 2000. Well, I'm using XP Pro. Long story short, I just right clicked on TASK LAUNCHER, THEN COMPATIBILITY, THEN UNCHECKED THE COMPATIBILITY MODE BOX, and the ...

Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2

5 stars (Best Version Ever) - I've been really impressed with this release of Windows. Couple it with the the latest Service Pack 2 and it really shines. I work as a technician at a computer repair shop, and let me tell you it is by far the easiest version of Microsoft Windows to support. 1. It's driver database is outstanding. I get so amazed when I plug in a device and it automatically installs it. 2. I'm also impressed with the stability of this version. Remember the blue screen that you always got in earlier versions?? It's basically gone!! 3. The built-in popup blocker included with service pack 2 does an excellent job of blocking popups. My popups are gone!! 4. It also does a fine job of backwards compatibility. I've already ran OLD ms-dos programs on my XP machine just for the kicks. 5. And the Windows Restore capability is awesome. I've fixed a problem by simply restoring it to yesterday. These are just a few of the many features of Windows XP. All in all, I'm well pleased. Buy it. 1 stars (The XP is for eXtra Painful) - As I had commented earlier, my biggest business demand is for people wanting to upgrade to Win 2000 from Win XP. I have seen people scream at the XP operating system. I have seen people get peeved with their "helpful" relatives who had upgraded their system from Win 98 or Win 2000 without their knowledge. XP is slow, buggy, instrusive and easily infected. It is the leper and syphilic of OS's. Do yourself a favor for your business and your family peace. Avoid XP at all costs. All those other people recommeding XP on other websites(Present Amazon company excluded. I am convinced of their sincerity!), makes me wonder if this is astroturf marketing from Redmond. 4 stars (Good OS for Professionals) - You can find most of these goods in Home edition. If you are not sure which type is for you, you may want to read my review on Windows XP Home Edition. If you find it's good enough for you, choosing that would be a smart choice as it is ...

PC DOS 2000

5 stars (DOS still has a future!!) - There is still a place for DOS in the computing world - older systems, with limited resources, that are doing basic word processing, database management, text-only Internet access, and telemetry support - and PC DOS 2000 is the perfect OS to keep these machines chugging along ... Y2K compliancy, new programming, ease of use, and many utilities. Just a comment on the Warning! review by Dr. Ronald Gibbons - IBM makes it very clear that they do NOT recommend using PC DOS 2000 with Win95 or Win98. The following is quoted from IBM's FAQ page "Can I run PC DOS 2000 with Windows 95 / Windows 98?" "Unlike Windows 3.x which requires a separate operating system (DOS), Windows 95 and Windows 98 have combined DOS and Windows into an integrated product. It is not recommended that you install PC DOS 2000 on a system running Windows 95 or Windows 98." 2 stars (Warning!) - The product MIGHT be good, but I never had the opportunity to use it. The program loaded witjout problem, but then I received a message indicating that PC DOS 2000 does not support the version of windows that I have loaded. I have Windows 95 and MS Office. No matter what I did I could not load thoses programs, nor could I return to DOS 6.0. In the end I had to reformat Drive C: and completely reload all of my software. There should have been a warning about which versions of software that PC DOS 2000 supports. 5 stars (DOS is not dead) - PC-DOS 2000 is a minor upgrade to PC-DOS 7.0, the version that came out as Windows 95 was released. This version is Y2K compliant and supports the new Euro currency symbol. It comes with many features not associated with DOS such as pen support and PCMCIA support. It also comes with a GUI backup program, Stacker 4.0, IBM antivirus, REXX programming and a plethora of utilities. Runs on anything from an 8088 upwards. I use it on my laptop with Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Even though it's a 486 I ...

Mac OS X 10 4 Tiger Family Pack - 5 Client DVD

5 stars (The Best) - What can you say about the best operating system in the world!!! It Rocks....everything about is great! Get it. Use it. You will not be sorry! 5 stars (The Best OS yet!!!!) - I decided to write a review after I noticed two reviewers (DOPES!) chose to give the OS one star, not because there's a problem with the OS, but because they didn't get theirs yet (WAAA). I bought the family pack because I have four computers to update. The upgrade was a snap on all four machines. And this is a great operating system. I especially like spot light, it makes finding anything on your computer a piece of cake. They have also enhanced the creation of pdf files which I use a lot to store email and web pages. I think that at least in my case I'm noticing a speed increase. And now we know that this OS has been designed to run on an Intel chip as well as the IBM chip. So don't worry, be happy and get this upgrade. 5 stars (Well done Apple!) - Although the installation was a tad shaky, Tiger runs beautifully on my Mac Mini 1.42 GHz 512 meg. I am completely in love with Dashboard- new widgets come out every day, and although they aren't all useful, they are all a lot of fun to use. I have yet to use every feature, but I do recommend Tiger. It is a wonderful upgrade from Panther, and has a lot of room to grow. Apple, I salute you. ...

WebEasy Professional 5 0

5 stars (This is a strong product - confused by all the bad reviews) - I love this product. It is a very powerful tool and is so much better than fumbling around with DreamWeaver. While I'm not a mind reader, I feel that some of the bad reviews are from folks that thought it would be super EASY as in you snap you fingers and your website magically appears. You do have to read the manual and the instructions, but with taking a little time to learn you have a lot of functions at your disposal that are very easy to use. I have to admit that I haven't tried to access the HTML code yet, but my understanding is that you can't do this which I could see becoming frustrating. If they added that feature into the next version this product would be perfect. Nevertheless, I gave it 5 stars because as of yet there hasn't been anything that I've wanted to do that I couldn't do yet. 1 stars (Program is more complicated then learning HTML) - By the time you figure this program out you could have learned HML. I`m other word it not a very good easy to understand format where you can just start using it right away. I gave up wasting my time on it. . I have seen a few hosting services that have easy to understand templates that are very well formatted and easy to manipulate, but you really got to look around unfortunately. Maybe I'll just serch simple html code "basic easy html... 1 stars (Sucky Program) - I think that this "web easy 5" software sucks, the link thing did not work either, it kept opening it up in new windows! It really sucks, I am getting web editor 6.0! ...

Mac OS X Server 10 4 Tiger - Unlimited Clients

1 stars (OS X is flawed for server work) - I love OS X but what do you buy a server for?... to centralize tasks such as web hosting and databases. This article: http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=2520 points out how OS X is horribly crippled to handle such server tasks when compared to Linux running on a G5 or an AMD chip. The article is very fair and every effort was made to figure out what went wrong and the conclusion was that OS X has very poor threading functionality - something critical server applications like mysql and apache under heavy load. The Linux running on the G5 is upwards of 1000% faster than OS 10.4. Given the cost of Linux I'm not sure what would prompt me to purchase this server OS for 10 times worse performance on the same Apple hardware. I also find it ironic that Apple has touted the benefits of a single company making hardware and OS for years and this is the result. Embarassing. 1 stars (Be Careful Before You Upgrade) - I thought for the first time that I'd stay on the cuttng edge of Mac OS. Little did I know that under Tiger all of my applications would crash more often and run more slowly. I also didn't know that Symantec wouldn't support Tiger, so that my old versions of Norton Utilities and Norton Antivirus no longer work while Symantec does not plan to sell versions that do work on Tiger. Both my classic applications and my OS X applications run slower and crash more often. I really regret upgrading. Sure, the widgets function is nice, but not worth the trouble Tiger has caused me. 5 stars (Great update to the OS system) - With the exception of one (big) negative, this has been a terrific upgrade. There is no doubt that this is an 'optimized' system, as my Mac G4 is blazing through things faster than ever. Standards like iPhoto and iTunes still put Apple on the cutting edge, but new features like Safari and the Dashboard/Widgets are great for making your life easier. So, what was the one big negative, you wonder? ...
